Malpractice and Maladministration
Our Commitments
At Homewood Training, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in all our training and assessment activities. This policy explains how we prevent, identify, and deal with malpractice (deliberate wrongdoing) and maladministration (poor practice or mistakes in administration).
It applies to everyone involved in our work – staff, contractors, trainers, learners, and partners.
What Do We Mean by Malpractice and Maladministration?
Malpractice: Any deliberate act, neglect, or behaviour that compromises the integrity of training, assessment, or certification.
Maladministration: Repeated mistakes or poor practices that lead to non-compliance with regulations, such as inaccurate records or unnecessary delays.
Examples
Malpractice includes:
- Plagiarism (copying someone else’s work).
- Collusion or cheating (including through ICT or AI tools).
- Forgery or falsification of evidence.
- Fraudulent claims for certificates.
- Failure to carry out required assessments or verification.
- Unfair discrimination or bias in decisions.
Maladministration includes:
- Persistent late or inaccurate learner registrations.
- Poor or missing record-keeping.
- Repeated errors in assessment administration.
- Delays in responding to awarding body requests.
How to Report a Concern
If you suspect malpractice or maladministration:

Investigation Process
- We acknowledge all reports within 5 working days.
- Investigations are normally completed within 10 working days.
- An impartial Director will review the matter and gather evidence.
- All parties will be given the chance to respond.
- If necessary, we will inform awarding bodies or regulators.
Possible outcomes include retraining, additional supervision, withdrawal of certificates, or in serious cases, termination of contracts/employment.
Our Ongoing Commitment
- This policy is reviewed every year or sooner if regulations change.
- Lessons learned are shared with staff and contractors to prevent repeat issues.
- We expect all staff, contractors, and learners to act honestly, fairly, and with integrity.
